Â鶹´«Ã½ is hosting an entry-level training class and exam for aspiring amateur radio operators — people who could offer communications assistance during large-scale emergencies.
People interested in taking the class should first attend a one-hour introductory meeting at 7:30 p.m. June 2 at the Explorit Science Center’s Mace Park branch, 3141 Fifth St., Davis.
The class and exam in the Â鶹´«Ã½ Emergency Operations Center are scheduled for June 13, with the class running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the exam set for 5 p.m.
The training and exam for the Federal Communications Commission technician class license are being organized by the Â鶹´«Ã½ Amateur Radio Communications Team, the Yolo Amateur Radio Society, and the Yolo Amateur Radio Emergency Service.
The fee, which includes lunch, is $25, and the study book can be purchased for $20 at the June 2 meeting.
Licensees who are Â鶹´«Ã½ employees and students can become involved with the Â鶹´«Ã½ amateur radio group, which assists with communications during large-scale emergencies.
For more information about the training, contact Gary Matteson at (530) 219-6777.
