Elsevier Cuts Off UC Access to 2019 Articles

Elsevier is discontinuing the University of California’s access to its 2019 journal articles, the latest development since contract negotiations with the Dutch company stalled in February.

Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Ralph J. Hexter recently added “Vice Provost of Digital Scholarship” to University Librarian MacKenzie Smith’s title in recognition of the evolution of scholarly communications in the 21st century and concomitantly of her role at �鶹��ý.

The new title, which took effect this month, acknowledges Smith’s national expertise in digital scholarship and will solidify �鶹��ý and the �鶹��ý Library’s leadership in digital scholarship with �鶹��ý’ academic and industry partners throughout the country, Hexter said.
